Daniel is playing the tuba in band these days, but after he started playing the tuba, he started missing his trumpet. So when his band director asked him if he wanted to try out for jazz band Daniel had a decision to make. He was slightly apprehensive about the commitment. So I stepped in and told him to do it for one year and try it out. That is always a tricky thing for a parent to do.
Luckily, it paid off. Daniel LOVED jazz band. He has big plans for jazz band in the future. He is planning on staying in intermediate jazz next year and take on some solos and he even talked to his director about playing the tuba in jazz band.
The trumpet has come home for the year now, but it had a great year.

Happy Birthday Nicko
Nicko celebrated his 17th birthday this month! 17!!! For his birthday his request was homemade macaroni and cheese, carrots and as much chocolate as we could possibly cram into one cake.
I do not know why the best picture we have is this blurry picture taken in the fridge! (Isaac took this one.) But never the less, this is Nicko's cake. He did not light the cow candle because he did no want it to melt. He kept the candle. Nicko LOVES cows.
Nicko's special guest for his celebration was his girl friend, Stefanie.

Spring Break 2011
Last week was our spring break. We went to Williamsburg and had a great time. Williamsburg is absolutely beautiful. We spent a few days in Colonial Williamsburg. This is the Governor's Palace. It was awesome to see.
We saw reenactments. This is the Governor. He was not too popular.
These fellas were not too popular either.
The reenactments were passionate, personal, and performed amazingly well.
Thomas Jefferson was very patient with the tourist that wanted to get a photo with him.
George Washington was busy with his troops so we did not get a chance to meet him. But that's okay because he was going a really important job.
The boys got a real kick out of this thing.
We got to chance to check out the local fashions. Isn't she cute?
The feather is rather fancy.
I loved this hat on Alyssa. It was a tad expensive, but darn cute.
Anyone know how you are supposed to wear this thing?
The gardens in the old city were beautiful. I was jealous. This is the Governor's garden.
Look how beautiful this is.
This rain barrel is how they watered their gardens. I want a rain barrel like this.
We also had a touch of a bug follow us to Virginia, but we all came home rested and in love with our step back in time.
Now that we are back home, things are back to being super busy. Two kids are in track and all four are distracted by the coming of spring...I am too. Stay tuned for track meet pictures coming soon.
